I’m writing in support of the Fountain House Workers Union and their efforts to improve the community. Fountain House management must re-prioritize the clubhouse, its members and its staff. It’s time for Fountain House to live up to its own ideals and commit to making Fountain House the groundbreaking place it purports to be.

I support FHWU’s demand for fair wages. A livable wage would attract and retain dedicated, skilled workers and would ensure members receive the highest standard of care. Management has prioritized rapid expansion, without attention paid to supporting the essential services that members rely on. Management’s proposal of an average 1.65% annual wage increase is an insult to the workers and to the community. It devalues the commitment and care that staff exemplify daily. Enough empty promises — come to the table and work with the union to transform Fountain House into a place where workers can have a sustainable career.

Now is your chance to make Fountain House a better place. The community has been built through collaboration by members AND staff — management needs to start acting like it. Come to the bargaining table now, with a proposal for a decent, livable wage!
